3RD CLASS - ‘THE LANDSCAPE I LIKE’ by Tessa Androutsopoulos and Marja de Jong

ART CLASS PRINTING

The 3rd class is the middle of the primary school with children in the age of 8-9 years. This group has been printing monotypes during several lessons. In different lessons the children has been explained the various ways of this technique. In the future this will be more and more combined, depending on the need of some results and/or effects.

During this series of workshops different possibilities of the technique are introduced, explained and used. After a first ‘try-out’ in which the children relapse into the usual clichés other possibilities of monotype printing are introduced.

As the technique needs a long time of experiences to plan the available steps to build up a print it is still interesting to see how they intensively explore the new possibilities to create images. During the process the prints started to be more individual and more connected with a personal relation to the landscape. The almost unlimited possibilities of mono printing are overwhelming but through their experiences the children started to be able to plan their image even it was working out sometimes in a different way, e.g. forgotten that the print is a mirror image of the original on the acrylic glass.
