Activities and programs in 2011
a. THIS IS OUR NATURE – art education project
The project is very successful and is developing very well.
In 2011 art workshops were organized in the schools of Haukivuori and Hiirola.
Participating artists were: Tessa Androutsopoulos, Melanie Fitzmaurice, Shona
MacPherson, Marja de Jong

In July the Irish performer Pamela Whitaker has organized on different places in
Haukivuori art activities with children.

During summer 2011 the first results of the program were presented in the
exhibition THIS IS OUR NATURE in art centre Saksala ArtRadius.
Participants in the exhibition were: different classes of Haukivuori schools,
Pamela Whitaker with an installation, Ilse van den Berk with a photo collage,
and Mariëtte Cordes with a knitting installation in the yard.
Secretary General of the regional Arts Council Riitta Moisander has opened the
exhibition, Aapo Repo has showed a performance with Eetu-E.

b. Haukivuori Muistoissamme V
This presentation was based on the contributions of the local society.
c. Taidekirppujen Yö
In 2011 the annual Taidekirppujen Yö has been organized on two locations.
On Friday evening at the railway station square and on Saturday in- and outside
the art centre Saksala ArtRadius

Part of this event was the installation MATTIAS MEMORIAL a community art work
created by the 7th class of Ylä-aste Haukivuori and different artists.

d. A LOVELY PLACE – transnational community project
AREFS is participating in the transnational project A LOVELY PLACE and the
program THIS IS OUR NATURE is part of this project.
During 2010 the board has had 2 times a meeting.
Financial support:
For the art education project THIS IS OUR NATURE for the school year 2011-2012
4000€ from Mikkelin Kaupunki.
Haukivuori Aluejohtokunta has supported the different art activities in 2011
with 5400€
AREFS has started the page AREFS-Saksala ArtRadius on Facebook. At the end
of 2011 this page has 64 followers.
