SAVON-RADAN train schedule Haukivuori
The train schedule is an interesting phenomenon. VR is
complaining about the number of travelers which is too less to keep
the stop open.
The schedule shows that VR has made some decisions about frequency
and number of trains.
In 2004-2005 there were still 2 night trains, one to the North and one to the South. These trains are taken out in 2006-2007. To the South this connection is compensated by a train at 5.33, to the North it disappeared completely.
The train to the North at around 8 has changed many times with the depart from Haukivuori, from 8.04 in 2004/05, 7.43 in 2006/07 to 8.34 in 2014. It was possible to directly to Rovaniemi, but VR has taken this out.
During day time the schedule is quit constant, in the evening VR
has made several experiments.
To the North a new connection appeared at 19.29, which still is
there in 2014. The train around 20.15-20.30 is still in the
schedule. The train at 22.18 disappeared from the schedule.
To the South VR introduced in 2006 a train at 21.08, took it out and
replaced a train at 17.22.
Finally the conclusion is that the schedule is reduced in the
evening and night. Is it so strange for the board of VR to imagine
that some one does not take a train to go somewhere, when there is
no train to go back home.
Maybe an interesting thought for the board of VR, a schedule that
fits for people to go to work is usual not a long distance train,
but needs a frequent schedule between middle-sized and small
villages.
Another thought is maybe an eye-opener: to get people in the train
for a long distance they need to be transported to the beginning of
the route.
