From the weblog of the group:
Morning in Rämälä ...
"The material is your partner! (...) We must deepen with time, the
relationship between the material and the person."
Moments before starting the workshop, Marja de Jong shared with us
some thoughts on the need to know the material and continue to
experience, so that each finds its way and plastic solution.
She also said that if there is no external stimulus, in this sense,
evolution is unlikely.
The session began with a challenge to students: discover the
existing paint, the shape of her face, from a photo of baby. The
work has been evolving as Marja was giving orientations to escape
the stereotype, so that each discovered his face on the sheet
through the short and textured brushstroke ...
Afternoon in Hiirola - railway station
In the home / studio of Marja de Jong, a former building belonging
to railway station, there was a workshop. Through hundreds of books,
paint and objects that tell the story of a lifetime, we hear reports
of the processes of the various arts education projects, integrated
in the publication "This is our nature", published by AREFS (see
links). Still shared with us his vision of artistic intervention in
education, referring us to the intent of the proposals concerns.
In the attached PDF files we show our vision on art and art
education.
